Just wanted to put something out for the holiday and this track presented itself at the right time. That is seriously smokin' and if you get anywhere around that you can consider yourself an MCM pro! lol So far the best lap in testing was a 1:27 run by VRT_RideBlue (Dave). I did some new things with textures in 3D Max that makes the ruts really seem to jump out at you (bumpmapping). Then I decided to go one better and do it in HIGH DEFINITION this time. Well.lots of people have asked for something more like MXStatic.so I put this one together just like I did was designed and layed out in the same way. It is a wide SX layout with alot of lines to choose from, I hope you guys enjoy. The slippery areas are shown on the textures as a white shinny area so be aware of them, they are subtle but will get you attention. The object shadows are far from perfect but they fit the theme well. It is a high def track (must go in Nationals folder) with some decent textures, I would have liked to spend more time on them but this track will be forgotten when MVA comes out im sure. map and 10 on the traction map) I have come with a pretty technical track for your Supercross enjoyment. ![]() So with that said I restructed the disp map and traction map (40 hours spent on the disp. ![]() "Well some 75 tracks later for MCM2 (yes thats my total track count) some worthy and some not, this will be my last creation for MCM2, I have learned so much from the Twisted Dirt crew, I just wish I had more time with this track as we were anticipating a new power curve and bike weight tool that never surfaced because of MVA's new arrival, this track was originally structured to a special bike weight and HP with a very detailed traction map that worked well. ![]() Here is what Dave has to say about his track: So enjoy this track and you may just have to keep your MCM 2 CD handy for quite a while yet. It uses several features that were just not included in the Unleashed editor (traction maps, hi-def dispmap, hi-def textures, custom objects, and eco style trees). It's a shame that we won't be able to do a track like this in MX vs ATV Unleashed. It is the last MCM 2 track TD will release before MX vs ATV Unleashed comes out.ĭave (VRT_RideBlue), the master and tamer of MCM 2 Traction Maps shows what the possibilities are with this track. I thought the name of this track was appropriate. The production also enhances the picture through simple but well-conceived settings, use of lighting, and other features that nicely complement the main action. Accordingly, the supporting cast keep their characters more simple, and their performances stylized and almost exaggerated, which allows Bancroft and Duke to have most of the moments of significance. The two leads carry almost the whole picture, as the other characters are there primarily for Annie and Helen to play off of. ![]() The concept of seeing an unseen world (and the challenge of helping someone to see it) is brought out in ways that are profound yet accessible. There is a great deal of substance to the movie that goes beyond the immediate issues and confrontations, and a significant reason for the greatness of the film is the way that Bancroft and Duke tap into the imagination of the viewer. The lengthy dining room struggle alone would make any movie worth watching - it is worthwhile even beyond the interesting action itself, as it brings out aspects of human nature and human learning that go beyond even Helen's own trials. The battle of wills and wits between the two is engrossing, becoming quite involved and very interesting. The story itself is so good that even the lesser remakes have been worth seeing, but there is really no reason at all to look any further than this nearly flawless filming of the story.Īs Annie Sullivan and Helen Keller, Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke could not have been better. With two terrific leading performances, an absorbing and thought-provoking story, and many well-conceived touches by Arthur Penn and his production team, this classic version of "The Miracle Worker" is an exceptional movie that appeals to the imagination and that has much to say about humanity. Reviewed by Snow Leopard N/A An Exceptional Movie That Appeals to the Imagination It continues to live in my memory as a work of art that has rarely been equalled before - or since - on screen. ![]() The Miracle Worker is a story and film portraying real human courage, patience and individual, personal will. It is a film which breathes life - and it is especially brought to life by two of the best actresses America has ever produced. Duke, Bancroft and Penn worked beatifully to create this incredibly touching masterpiece of dramatic filmmaking, which is not without its moments of "comedy," as all fine dramas are capable of conveying. It's an absolutely astonishing, "can't take your eyes off it," moment of celluloid. I dare anyone to even breathe during the climactic water pump scene when teacher Annie Sullivan finally "connects" and communicates with her "unreachable" charge, the deaf, blind, young Helen Keller. Although much has been written about 11-minute breakfast donneybrook, which is certainly wonderful cinema to behold, the entire film is breathtaking from opening credits to the final scenes. ![]() It is a film about the undaunted human spirit and our need to communicate. Bancroft and Duke deliver A-plus, no bones about it, top-drawer, performances. Finally, one would be hard pressed to think of another film that so exquisitely defines the term "2-character" study. The film, in stark, black and white, speaks total reality to the film audience of 1962 - and, of course, well beyond that year. Intelligent, austere direction by Arthur Penn (one of the true gentlemen and masters of the American cinema) Penn had the sense to retain the inate artistry and grit of the original stage play and simply allow the camera to capture the actors' intuitive - albeit, well rehearsed, performances, recreating their stage roles which generated an unheard-of 19 curtain calls when it first graced the stage in its Philadephia opening. Brilliantly inspired writing by William Gibson, from his equally inspired play. This is the kind of filmmaking that prompted me to fall in love with the movies. Reviewed by gevaultski 10 /10 MW: One one of the reasons I fell in love with film as artĪlthough I am a long-time Patty Duke admirer, and thus far from objective, this film still stands the test of time. ![]() I played as Claire first and I found her story to be much more interesting than Leon’s, but I’m sure that’s a matter of preference. Easy, fast, and doesn’t kill the momentum of the scares. I find gunpowder, I immediately combine it with my one other gunpowder to make bullets. The crafting is simple and as such lends itself to being fun. Claire gets a grenade launcher and Leon gets a shotgun, so they actually handle quite differently. You’ll find that each of them feels different to play as, even if it feels like you’re playing the same game again. Claire’s story is that of family, how people hold together and fall apart when all is lost. Like I mentioned before, Leon’s story is more the story of the Umbrella Corporation, what they did, why they did it, and how it started the apocalypse. There a few characters besides the main two that I won’t spoil the story of, but I really came to love Sherry and hate Ada. I probably don’t need to go that way anyway, should be fine. I don’t know why it’s worse, but I do NOT want to get punched by the big stone man in the fedora. Would he break my neck? Eat me? Maybe a fade to black? No, it’s much worse. I was so scared of what was going to happen when he caught me. He does not speak, has no emotions, and walks exactly half as fast as you can run, never changing speed. Once he appears in the police station, he continually stalks you for the duration of that area (probably about an hour or so of gameplay). X is a large, broad shouldered, blue faced indestructible dad wearing a trench coat and a fedora. A long string of Aah! moments cascaded forth! The dopamine rush that comes with feeling yourself to be really intelligent hit hard, and I suddenly got what the game was about: it’s just a scary puzzle game. ![]() I basically was in a state of being jump scared every 10 seconds by a zombie I thought was dead, always being low on ammo, and busting my brain trying to solve these 1998-ass puzzles.Īnd then suddenly I found the rhythm. Traversing the police station, collecting weird items, finding dead ends and dead friends scattered this way and that. I kept thinking “where’s the thing that makes this a game of the year contender?” I chose to play as Claire because she seemed confident and cool, while Leon looked like the lost 8th member of BTS. I was not sold on this game in its first hour. After seeing all the Game of the Year praise a remake got in 2019, I thought to myself “this must be a pretty damn good remake then.” And it is. I never played any of the games or saw the movies, didn’t know who Jill Valentine was, didn’t even know the franchise was about a zombie outbreak. I’ll be honest, I was completely unfamiliar with the franchise until now. Resident Evil actually is responsible for popularizing survival horror games back in the 90s, and helped lead to renewed interest in zombies in pop culture that we saw going into the 2000s. Playing as Sherry and hiding from your kidnapper is perhaps more frightening than fighting zombies. I cannot make sense of what I have seen over the course of these past 15 hours, despite my tedious detective work. It lies in the Unknowable, the unkillable, the unsolvable, the incomprehensible. The terror in Resident Evil 2 does not lie in the jump scares or the grotesque monsters, of which there are plenty. What is Unknown is unkillable, and that is fascinating. That leaves the Unknown as an all powerful entity. A lot of times the capital-U Unknown isn’t resolved by the end of the story, and that’s great. Every horror movie is also a mystery movie, even if it’s a bad one. There is a joy in being frightened, but where does it come from? I believe that the true draw of horror is that the genre is based around discovering things that are unknown. But I’ve never been able to quite lay my finger on why I love horror. I certainly subject myself to it enough, whether it’s t hrough Stephen King books or American Horror Story or any horror anime I can get my grubby hands on. I often tell people I love horror, and I do. ![]() As for K’s personal life, he lives with Joi (Ana de Armas), a virtual companion who can morph from homemaker to hottie in a nanosecond. ![]() detective is the key to something that could “break the world.” She’s not kidding, and that prospect intensifies once Jared Leto shows up as Wallace, a replicant designer and demigod who can’t keep up with the demand for his product. When four of these off-world androids escaped and wound up in the City of Angels, he was the assassin assigned to waste the quartet before they could pass as one of us. Harrison Ford, at his hard-case best, comes roaring back as Rick Deckard, long past his days as blade runner in a relentlessly rainy Los Angeles circa 2019, when his job was to “retire” replicants. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? For Blade Runner junkies like myself, who’ve mainlined five different versions of Ridley Scott’s now iconic sci-fi film noir – from the release print to the Director’s Cut and the Final Cut (the last two minus that voiceover Scott and Ford hated) – every minute of this mesmerizing mindbender is a visual feast to gorge on. (I won’t say how for fear of reprisals.) I can reveal that the sequel runs 2 hours and 43 minutes – that’s 45 minutes longer than the 1982 original, based on Philip K. So what I can tell you about Blade Runner 2049 without having the spoiler police on my ass? Elvis is in it ditto Sinatra. Not a bad choice, just different set of trade-offs. The trade-off is that the learning curve will be steeper, so there will be more frustration and mistakes in the beginning. You’re unlikely to ever outgrow it, and it will be useful to know for just about any CNC machine. It’s certainly a capable program and has excellent support in the CAD/CAM world. If you are already familiar with a 2D design software such as Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer (there are many others), then you can speed up your learning curve by starting with these programs. ![]() You can start with carving lettering or other designs into the surface to make signs, for example. For the novice in CNC, there’s enough to learn already, so it makes sense to me to start simpler with tools that are easier to learn and to get working.Īn example of the kind of work that you might start with using your first CNC engraver is to carve designs into a flat surface. I say this because 3D modeling generally has a longer learning curve. If you’re just starting out in CNC, it’s probably best to start with 2.5 D instead of 3D for modeling. Most people think that they need a full-featured 3D design program in order to design parts for their CNC milling machine. This is a big deal when you’re thinking about design software. But if you want to make a fully 3D part, you are limited because you can only cut on the top of the part.īecause you can only cut on one face in the Z axis, this is called 2.5D CNC. This is great for carving, engraving, drilling, cutting sheets, leveling, and similar tasks. This seems like 3D, but it can only carve into one side of the work-piece, which is the top. ![]() ![]() The engraving tool moves about in the X and Y directions ( right and left is usually the X axis, while front and back is usually the Y axis) and also moves up and down in the Z axis to carve into the work-piece. Most of the CNC machines that a beginner is going to use have a flat area, and an engraving or carving tool that moves above it. I assumed that since the machine has an X, Y, and a Z axis, that I needed to learn 3D design programs. When I was starting with CNC, I was overwhelmed by all the options when it comes to software which is used to design, layout, and control the CNC machine. If you’re just getting started in CNC, it’s important to know the difference between 2.5D and 3D machining. |
